After our recent release, we have got quite a bit of feedback on the new features. With today's release of Snippets 0.7.6, we attempt to address the most frequent requests and bug reports. Please find all the details about new search panel, global menu improvements, and keyboard shortcuts below.
First of all, let's talk about the most frequently requested feature…
As you remember, Snippets' Global Menu may be opened by mouse-clicking on the scissors icon in the menu bar or by key-pressing the Command+F12 shortcut:
And now you may Command+Click the scissors icon in the menu bar or use a global shortcut Command+Shift+F12 to open the Search Panel:
So, the Search Panel is now available along with a Global Menu. As usually, you should select an item's name and Click it to paste its code into the active text view. And as earlier, just Option+Click an item to paste it into the Pasteboard instead of the active application.
Moreover, both of these menus may be configured using new settings. Here they are:
As you see, the new General Preferences pane allows you to configure default shortcuts. Or just clear them out, if you want to disable hot-keys at all.
You may also set-up the group that you wish to be displayed in the Global Menu. For example, if we select an ‘HTML Starters’ group…
…then Global Menu will include only a set of items belonging to the ‘HTML Starters’ group. In the same manner, you can create any smart-group or folder hierarchy to have the most useful items at hand just by pressing the shortcut Command+F12:
In addition to the listed features, there were some really annoying bugs detected and fixed. We want to thank everybody who has helped us to find and reproduce those existing issues. Your help was just invaluable!
As always, we are happy to discuss any features and possible enhancements in the Discussion Group.
Stay tuned!

We have already got a lot of requests regarding non-mainstream syntax highlights and are likely to add a special mechanism for adding and sharing custom highlights in the future.
Well, I guess it was better to have the menu items under the scissors click. The search engine is great, but I rather have the menu than the search field by default. [cmd + click] !!! It will be nice to have the choice in the preference window.
Thanks
The latest version 0.7.8 includes support for the thing you’ve mentioned.

Wow great app! Too bad I can’t use it. Any reason why Snow Leopard only? I’m just too scared to upgrade, got loads of work needs to be done and heard that Adobe software crashes on snow.
I know it seems stupid to ask, but I’ll give it a shot: Is there a way to run this app in leopard? thanks anyway :)
Hi Rick,
Thank you very much for your interest in the Snippets application.
We are really sorry but our app has been developed with Snow Leopard in mind.
The latest Mac OS X has just a huge potential for users and developers as well.
The main thing here is that features like Search Panel were even not possible in the Leopard.
Also, here is meant an excellent integration with System Services and Sync Services etc etc.
All this stuff was semi-functional or just not available in the Mac OS X 10.5.
Anyway, the Snippets application is still in Alpha stage so you’ve got some time to upgrade :)
Best regards

This is looking really nice. However, sadly enough, I have to code a lot of vb.net apps so I’d love to see vb.net as a supported since I do all of my .net coding in a Parallels VM…
