Hi everyone!
It's been a while since our first public release, and we have been pleased to see your requests for myriads of new features. We would like to say Thank You for all your e-mails and tweets, Google Groups conversations and feedback messages.
Today we are extremely happy to show you the features you wanted the most. Yes, we implemented them! Our new steaming 0.7.4 release includes such long-awaited features as Dockless mode, global shortcut, and some new popular syntax highlights. So, one by one…
Dockless mode
Many of you wanted to hide Snippets icon from the Dock. Yes, we also run short of space in the Dock sometimes… Now, if you open General pane in the Preferences window, you may find the following options:
So, here's how it works: first of all, you may enable the icon in the Menu Bar. After you do that, you can choose to have the menu bar icon displayed even if Snippets application is not running. Just set the ‘Show in menu bar: Always’ flag and quit the application to free up some Dock space. This way a small utility called Snippets Assistant will stay in the menu bar to allow you accessing code snippets through the global menu any time.
You can also opt-in for the global shortcut Cmd+F12 to open the global Snippets menu without leaving your keyboard.
Global shortcut
As it's been noted in the great MacStories review, Snippets application pasted items into the active application nicely but it did not leave the source code text in the Pasteboard. What a great idea! We agree this can be useful if you want to reuse the same code snippet several times.
So now we have a solution for this. Here is another goody: press and hold the Option key while browsing the global menu to insert Snippet into the Pasteboard instead of pasting into the text field in focus:
Please note an alternate menu title ‘Copy Into Pasteboard:’ visible while Option key is pressed.
New syntax highlights
Snippets is being used by developers of many flavors and we keep receiving requests for new languages. We like that! It's quite fascinating to allow more people using our application to create their nice code snippets.
So we are proud to announce Snippets app now supports PHP, XML, Java, and ActionScript syntax. That's in addition to JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Python, Ruby, AppleScript, Objective C, C++, and others. Hope the new supported highlights will allow to create more good software in the universe :)
We have to leave you for now…
We like writing posts in our blog but if you don't mind, we'd better leave you here and concentrate on the next build :) We really enjoy creating our nice small app. Be prepared to more features and improvements as we have a lot of them in our inbox.
If you want to give Snippets a try, go to Snippets home page and click that large red ‘Download’ button to download the latest release.
As always, we are happy to talk to you on twitter. Follow us at @snippetsapp.
Talk to you soon!

Great thanks for your kind words Chris :) We will think through the web part of Snippets App soon or later.
This is one of my favorite Mac applications, helps a lot in my day-to-day development project. I like the share code idea Chris mentioned.
We are working on really interesting things regarding the snippet sharing but need some time for that. Thanks for the feedback :)

Nice work guys :) Especially stoked to see the addition of php in the list of syntax highlights :) Now just time for some sharing, post to pastie.org, quick entry (via keyboard shortcut) and others – but no pressure :P
Something which would be awesome to consider for future releases is more team collaboration (something i personally would be happy paying for), with an online version sync (think little snapper + ember) and some more intuitive ways to enter and share code.
